What is the Red-Green Alliance?

What is behind the alliance between Islam and the Socialist/Communist wing of the Democrat party?  The symbol of that alliance is the newly elected mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic Socialist of America (Communist) and avowed Islamist.

Our guest speaker, Dan Brubaker, will explore these questions and more.

Islam and Socialism: Two Challenges to American Self-Government

Two forces are reshaping American public life—one religious, one political—and both raise hard questions about the future of ordered liberty and self-government in the United States. Some observers, such as former Wall Street Journal reporter Asra Nomani in her book Woke Army: The Red-Green Alliance That Is Destroying America's Freedom, have written on the surprising convergence of the two. Our guest speaker will briefly take up each on its own terms—as subjects he has studied deeply and written on directly.

Dr. Dan Brubaker is a scholar of the Quran with some twenty years in the field. He holds a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Rice University and is the author of Corrections in Early Qurʾān Manuscripts (2019), a work of primary-source manuscript research that has drawn international attention and response. A Rockwell Scholar at Rice from 2014 to 2016, he now pursues his manuscript research as an independent scholar. He teaches Quran and early Islamic history at the graduate level as a professor at Veritas International University and serves as vice-chancellor of Mission Muslim World University, both accredited Christian institutions. Dr. Brubaker is broadly familiar with the classical and contemporary Islamic and Arabic sources.

He has also written directly on the American political questions this hour will raise: By the People? — The 2020 U.S. Presidential Election and the Theft of Americans' Right to Self-Rule (2022), and What's Wrong With Socialism — A Biblical Investigation for Everyone (2024). Few speakers bring documented, book-length work to both the religious and the political challenges before us.

A resident of Loudoun County, Dan approaches these questions as both a scholar and a Christian—concerned not to stir fear, but rather to help fellow citizens see clearly and respond wisely.

Join us as Dr. Brubaker examines these two challenges to the American experiment in self-government, and what a thoughtful, faithful response to each might look like.
